Who Takes This Route?
Wicklow Town lies 73 km from the airport by the quickest road, so this is one of our longer airport transfers. That distance shapes who books it: people who want one vehicle all the way instead of a change in the city centre.
Visitors heading for Brittas Bay are one group. Discover Ireland describes Brittas Bay South Beach as 16 km from Wicklow Town, with a 5 km stretch of white sand dunes, Blue Flag status and lifeguards in the bathing season. Heritage visitors aim for Wicklow's Historic Gaol on Kilmantin Hill, established in 1702. Its own website currently says it is reopening soon, so check before you plan a day around it. Walkers use Wicklow Town as a base for the Wicklow Mountains, which include Glendalough. Residents flying home to Wicklow make up the rest.

Two things stand out. The M50 route is 11 km longer than the 62 km N11 route (73 km against 62 km), yet it is 12 minutes quicker with no traffic and 8 minutes quicker at 17:30. The second point is the evening peak: on the quickest route the weekday 17:30 drive is 22 minutes longer than the no-traffic time.
The M50 toll
The quickest route crosses the eFlow gantry on the western M50. Car rates for 2026 are €3.80 if unregistered, €3.20 on a video account or €2.60 with a tag. Wicklow is awkward by public transport from the airport, and the details have changed in recent years. Bus Éireann route 133 runs from Busáras to Wicklow via Ashford. Since the NTA's 2023 changes it no longer routes via Bray, to improve punctuality. Route 101 connects Dublin Airport with Busáras, so the bus journey has a change in the city centre.
Route 131 is a local bus between Bray and Wicklow town that connects with DART services at Bray. Irish Rail also serves Wicklow station on Station Road, which is Eircode A67 TK38. There is no rail link between the airport and Wicklow.
Public transport works if you are travelling light and have time. A taxi makes more sense when you have luggage, an address away from the bus routes, or a flight time that a timetable cannot meet.
Pickup and Drop-off in Wicklow

Leaving Wicklow, count on 56 minutes if the road is clear and 78 minutes at 17:30 on a weekday. Wicklow is far out, so use the longer figure as your baseline, then work back through your airline's cut-off for dropping bags.
